Why Choose Deck Rejuvenation?
Since the early 2000s, we’ve been restoring decks across Melbourne’s North. Not just making them look good for a few months—we’re talking genuine, long-lasting restoration that fixes the problems most companies ignore.
We Actually Fix Cupping — Most Companies Don’t
Here’s what most deck companies won’t tell you: they skip the hard work. They’ll run a light surface sand that does nothing to fix cupped, uneven boards. Then they slap on 3 heavy coats of oil trying to hide the fact that corners were cut on prep work.
We do the opposite. We use 5 waves of sanding with various methods and grits to actually rectify cupping and level your boards. It’s harder work. It takes longer. But it means your deck is genuinely flat, water drains properly, and you get a finish that lasts — not one that’s masking poor preparation.
The difference? Our decks stay protected longer because the oil penetrates properly prepared timber. Their decks look okay for 6 months, then the oil film breaks down and you’re back to square one.
Family Business. Honest Advice. No Shortcuts.
We’re a family business based in Carlton, servicing Melbourne’s North within a 30km radius of Eltham. Ben and the team have been doing this for 17+ years—long enough to know every shortcut in the book, and honest enough not to take them.
We’ll tell you if your deck needs full restoration or just a maintenance coat. We’ll tell you if repairs are needed before we sand. We’ll even tell you if DIY is the better option for your situation. That’s not just good customer service—it’s how we’ve built a 5.0 star rating from 183 genuine customers.
Our Deck Services
Complete Deck Restoration
Our 9-step restoration process takes your weathered, grey, splintering deck back to its original beauty. We countersink, decup, sand (5 waves), degrease, scrub, fine sand, low-pressure clean, brighten, and apply 2 coats of premium water-based oil. This isn’t a quick fix—it’s a complete rejuvenation that addresses cupping, tannin staining, and years of UV damage. Perfect for Merbau, spotted gum, jarrah, and treated pine decks that haven’t been maintained in years.
Precision Deck Sanding
Proper deck sanding isn’t just running a sander over the surface. It’s about removing old coatings, eliminating splintering, and most importantly—rectifying cupping so your deck is actually flat. We use belt sanders, orbital sanders, edge sanders, and hand tools across 5 different grits to achieve a smooth, level surface that’s safe for bare feet and ready for maximum oil penetration. Whether you have a 60m² pool deck or a small balcony, we have the equipment and experience to do it right.
Premium Deck Oiling
Deck oil doesn’t fail — poor preparation does. That’s why we never oil a deck without proper sanding, deep degreasing, and timber brightening first.
We use a premium, Australian-made water-based oil, manufactured right here in Victoria and developed with our direct involvement from its research and development stage. It’s engineered for Australian conditions, real timber species, and long-term performance — not just shelf appeal.
Our oils are fast-drying, low-odour, and fume-free, which means safer use around homes and families. They also allow us to recoat efficiently and work through the wetter months, even when light rain is forecast — without compromising penetration or finish quality.
When applied to correctly prepared timber, two properly applied coats will always outperform multiple coats applied over poor preparation. We only oil when conditions are right — a dry deck and a suitable weather window — ensuring maximum durability and longevity.
Deck Maintenance & Repair
Sometimes restoration alone isn’t enough — structural repairs need to come first. As part of our assessment, we identify any work that must be completed before sanding and oiling can begin.
We complete many common deck repairs in-house, including split or rotting boards, loose balustrades, squeaky stairs, failing fixings, and localised timber damage. Where major structural works are required — such as joists, substructure remediation, or specialist carpentry — we will recommend and put you in touch with trusted local tradespeople we personally vouch for. These are trades we regularly work alongside and are happy to stand behind.
Where new boards are installed, we typically recommend allowing a minimum of 8 weeks before restoration begins. This gives replacement timber time to weather and patina naturally in the sun, ensuring new boards marry in with existing timber once everything is sanded and finished — rather than standing out after oiling.
This approach ensures all prerequisite works are completed to the correct standard before our restoration phase commences, resulting in a cleaner finish, better colour consistency, and longer-lasting results. Many of our restoration projects include some level of repair work, and you’ll receive an honest, upfront assessment during quoting. We’ll never recommend repairs that aren’t genuinely required.
How It Works
1. Get Your FREE Quote
Call 1300 363 478 or submit your details above. We’ll ask about your deck size, timber type, current condition, and what you’re hoping to achieve. Most quotes are provided same-day—no site visit needed for standard jobs. For complex projects, we’ll arrange an onsite assessment.
2. We Do The Hard Work
Our team arrives on time, sets up dust extraction, moves furniture (and puts it back), and completes the full 9-step restoration process. Depending on your deck size, this takes 1-3 days. We clean up completely—you won’t find random screws or sawdust in your garden beds. Then we return (weather permitting) to apply your chosen finish.
3. Enjoy Your Deck Again
Once the final coat is applied, our fast-drying, water-based finish is touch-dry in around 15 minutes. If absolutely necessary, light foot traffic in socks is possible the same day, though we recommend allowing the deck to rest overnight before normal use with shoes.
Outdoor furniture, pot plants, mats, and heavier items should remain off the deck for approximately 7 days while the coating continues to cure and builds its scratch and wear resistance. After that, your deck is ready for everyday use and long-term enjoyment.
We’ll also provide a clear, exposure-based maintenance schedule, tailored to how your deck actually wears:
-
Fully exposed or mixed-exposure areas: best practice recoating every 6–9 months
-
Undercover or well-protected areas: typically every 12 months, up to a maximum of 18 months
This keeps the timber protected, colour consistent, and avoids costly resanding down the track. And if you’d rather not think about maintenance at all, we offer ongoing deck maintenance programs to handle it for you.
